ABOUT UAKARI FLOATING LODGE PROGRAMS - in their own words:

SPECIAL PROGRAMS:  Jaguar Expedition   |   Birdwatching   |   Photography   |   Two Experiences   |   Henry Bates Expedition

In the Footsteps of Henry Bates

Take off on a historic adventure, following the paths of the naturalist Henry Bates, who lived in the Mamirauá region for 5 years during the 19th century. Visit the port of Tefé, the major entry point of goods into the city, get to know the customs of the river folk and navigate the raging rivers. And, doing as Bates did — always having in hand a notebook to record everything about the incredible local fauna and flora — makes this experience completely unique.

Unique

With a 2-night stay in the town, the program allows you to become immersed in the life and history of Tefé, the old village of Ega. Then during the 3-night stay at Uakari Lodge you have the opportunity to explore the rivers and forests, to discover the traditions of those who live by the river and to be enchanted by nature and by the beautiful Amazonian sunsets.

A Spirit of Adventure

– Row on the natural pools, close to the shores which Henry Bates noted were the favorite spots of thirsty jaguars
– Visit the river communities and see how the locals adapt to the flooding of the river
– During the night, be enchanted by the symphony of insects like cicadas and crickets, just as Henry Bates was.
