Llachón is an amazing peninsula where friendly locals will welcome you to enjoy an unimaginable tranquility and amazing scenery, starting with the startling contrast between Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, and its surroundings. We recommend staying at one of the local shelters, which hold the authentic traditional architecture (some have solar water heating).

LLachon is located 48 miles from Puno. You can get there by bus on a 2 hour drive, watching the great reed beds in which ducks and waterfowl swim and nest. You can also reach Llachon by boat, on a  2 and a half hour fascinating trip that will allow you to see great eucalyptus forest with a hill in the background called Aiku Karis, as you arrive to the community.

On the top of this hill you will find a circular temple of approximately 10 meter diameter , which appears to be from the Tiawanaco culture because its building characteristics. This temple remains as a sacred place for the villagers, who still practice here one of the most important cultural and religious rituals of the Andean traditions, the Pay to the Earth ceremony to honored the Pachamama (mother earth).

The Cerro Auki carus, located on the highest point of the peninsula, is also an extraordinary natural viewpoint that will let you admire the immensity of Lake Titicaca.

After the trekking, a local Andean family will provide a traditional dinner that you will truly enjoy. This meal   may include a variety of options such as soups and vegetables.

You will also be able to appreciate a beautiful view of Lake Titicaca in the darkness of the night next to a warm bonfire that will set the perfect mood before going to bed.
