BIRDWATCHING
The skies of Colca Canyon hold many delights for bird watchers, from the world’s largest hummingbird to eagles, woodpeckers and the majestic Andean condor. Our concierge will help you find the best times and places to spot must-see species.

ANDEAN CONDOR TOUR
Leave at 6:30am in time to see the birds rising on warm air currents. Hike to Priest’s Cross, through a dormant volcanic crater and through stunning cactus forests before brunch. There’s also an option to round off the day with a four-hour trek through the Sabancaya ravine.

COOKING CLASSES
Discover the secrets of Peruvian cuisine. Cookery lessons are available with our expert chefs, introducing you to the textures and flavours that make these dishes so distinctive. Ingredients for lessons are sourced from the fields around the property, ensuring the very best fresh produce.

CYCLING
Enjoy the freedom to explore the Colca Canyon on your own terms. Bicycles are available upon request—we’ll happily advise on routes for all fitness levels. For those guests who prefer to take part in accompanied rides, two-hour guided tours leave Belmond Las Casitas del Colca daily.

ALPACA FEEDING
The farm at Belmond Las Casitas is home to a variety of animals including rabbits, guinea pigs and alpacas. Each day at 8am, 12pm and 2:30pm, you can help our farm workers bottle feed the young alpacas. It’s a great opportunity to get up close with the canyon’s most unique creatures and learn about Peruvian farming practices.

TROUT POND
Try your hand at fishing in one of our trout ponds, a great activity for those who may not have much experience. Armed with a rustic fishing rod, you are invited to catch as much as you can, then hand them to our chefs who will prepare them for dinner. All of our trout are raised to the highest welfare standards with stock carefully maintained.

PERUVIAN PASO HORSE RIDING
Visit parts of the canyon that are otherwise inaccessible, stopping by the river to rest and let the horses drink from the cool waters. Two guided rides take place each day, contact us for more information.
