The lake region is undoubtedly an area of immense beauty to enjoy on a bike, in a group, with family or friends among mountains and forests of absolute purity.

BIKE TOUR:
Llao Llao Hotel & Resort, among other recreational activities organizes simple bike tours for beginners (1 hour long), or more challenging tours (4 hours long). Bikes, helmets, technical assistance and radio communication are available.

We offer different trekking tours following natural trails in the vicinity of the Hotel, open to all guests. Health walks: 45', with a guide. It is an aerobic walk to start the day full of energy.

RECREATIONAL WALKS:
A 90 minute walk to give our guests the possibility of going on a short morning walk. There is also an afternoon walk. These are low intensity walks where the only requirement is to walk for 2 or 3 hours. Trails vary according to participants, trying to take a different one each day so that our enthusiastic guests have a flavour of the different natural beauties.

High intensity walks: for athletes and adventurers. Three times a week we go on an excursion to Mount López. It starts at 9 am and finishes at 4 pm with lunch in the mountain (not included). These walks are guided by skilled instructors.

CANADIAN CANOEING:
Children and adults of all ages will be able to enjoy the lake and free use of hotel canoes. If you never used on before, we will provide the necessary instruction. Capacity 2 PAX. Available from 11 am to 7 pm.

FISHING TOURS:
The fishing season runs between the third Saturday in November and the first fortnight in April of the following year. The main sporting value species are land locked salmon, (salmo salar sebago),rainbow trout, brown trout, and fontinalis or creek trout. As a completely regulated activity, different modalities are allowed depending on the area: Spinning, Trolling and Fly Casting, always using artificial baits. Nets, baits, etc are absolutely forbidden. It is worth mentioning that the National Parks Organization regulates the maximum number of pieces to capture in its annual fishing regulations.

FLY CASTING:
This activity includes: Guide, fishing gear, transfers to fishing areas (up to 80 km.) Previous practice takes place at the Hotel Marina, then the fishing experience. Its extra charge depends on duration and number of people. Suggested average gear: 8 ½ ft. fishing rod, line 6 or 7, and line tied with 24 or 25 nylon. Two fly rods are ideal, one for line 5, another one for line 6 or 7. Heavier 9 ft. rods are recommended for the mouth of the river for lines of 8 or 9, while for early fishing (Spring- early Summer) the most common lines are sinking tip; as the season draws on, sinking-tip will give way to floating. To be borne in mind: if the amateur fisherman uses sinking tip or wet fly; for dry flies, always use floating lines. There is such a wide variety of flies nowadays that it is not easy to determine which are the best, so the most widely used and best known are recommended, which does not mean that other flies cannot give excellent results.

Excursions:

  • Limay River: Particularly near its mouth, ponds, tributary streams, islands and downstream.
  • Nahuel Huapi Lake: Cascades and tributaries in Brazos Tristeza, Blest and Ultima Esperanza.
  • Los Moscos Lake, Moreno Lake (East-West), Frey (excellent) and Guillelmo.
  • Manso River: Upper, Mid, Lower.
  • Villegas River: Confluence with Manso River , all along its flow, Pichileufú, Foyel and Frías rivers.

TROLLING:
This is an attractive activity and is very efficient for large pieces. It is the most controlled one, an edgeless 1-hook line is to be used. A special 5 1/2 ft short grip rod is recommended for trolling; also the so called bait-casting, with rolling reel and 0,40 nylon minimum. Flashers and lures are recommended.

Heavier rods and deep water lines are used for deep trolling. As for baits, the above mentioned are recommended. The biggest piece caught in the area was about 16 Kg. The Hotel has two new boats for guests to practise within Lake Nahuel Huapi jurisdiction:

  • Santana 35 NG "Steelhead" (max capacity 12 PAX)
  • Bermuda TS "Paraíso" (max capacity 6 PAX)

These two modern boats are fully equipped . Professional fishing guides with 18 years of expertise in the area will provide all technical information

Lake Nahuel Huapi - with a 590 km2 surface - hosts different species of salmon and trout which have particularly developed due to the special characteristics in temperature, quality and quantity of food the lake provides.

The activity takes place within the area of Nahuel Huapi National Park, always taking into consideration sport fishing regulations. Outings regularly last 2 hours, half day or full day. Lunch can be on board or on Victoria Island (Piedras Blancas) where a typical barbecue or a newly caught fresh trout can be enjoyed.
