ABOUT ESTANCIA LA BAMBA DE ARECO -  in their own words:
A little more than an hour from Buenos Aires in the heart of Argentina's tranquil Pampas countryside lies La Bamba de Areco, a unique experience awaiting travlers who seek the authentic and the truly different. One of the oldest estancias in the country, it was recently renovated as a boutique hotel with attention paid to every detail. From the luxurious, stylish accommodations to the celebration of the Gaucho tradition, La Bamba de Areco will awe and relax at the same time.

Located at the end of an avenue lined with century-old plane trees, the master house at La Bamba is built around the main courtyard, with a well-endowed library in the guard tower and a panoramic gallery opening onto the park. The cottage, the house sheltered by a vine arbour, the stables, the summer dining room and the former inn make up the majority of the buildings that surround the casco.

Nestling in the midst of a magnificent park, this typical colonial style ensemble houses rooms and suites spread over three buildings, with several reception rooms, a billiard room, a bar, a massage room and a boutique. A regional and refined culinary tradition, outstanding service, charm and character make La Bamba de Areco an essential stopping place in the province of Buenos Aires.

THE HISTORY:
La Bamba, whose origins date back to 1830 when it formed one of the post houses on the "Camino Real" (Royal Road) that linked Buenos Aires to the north of the country, is one of the oldest Argentinian colonial style estancias.

With its main building and its guard tower which served to defend against native attacks, its former stables (La Pulperia) and its 200 years old park, it is rooted in Argentine and Gaucho history.

Transformed into an estancia in the early twentieth century, it retained its name, derived from the Celtic word "Bahamba" which means "place of rest and hospitality", and was listed by the City of San Antonio de Areco in 1970. One of the first estancias to open its doors to the public in the 1980s and completely renovated in 2009 in the pure tradition, La Bamba has today regained its exceptional charm and original grandeur.

I
n the eleven rooms and suites at La Bamba, dark wooden floors, antique colonial furniture, art works, local textiles and modern art combine to create understated elegance and harmonious luxury

THE PULPERIA:
The oldest building dating back to the XVIIIth century, La Pulperia, served as a shelter for horses and carriages before later being converted into an inn where the gauchos would gather to sing, dance or dine. Today it has become a unique retreat for reading, relaxing, having a glass of wine or sharing a cup of tea.

As a tribute to the gauchos and their traditions, photographs by Aldo Sessa and paintings by Alejandro Moy abound, as well as leather and silver goods made by contemporary artists from San Antonio de Areco which adorn the boutique and attest La Bamba’s loyalty to its local town
