Don't drink the water. The water is treated differently than what we are used to in the United States. Drink bottled water instead.

As in any city, be careful with your bag or purse that hangs from your shoulder and the same goes for your camera. Leave your valuables in a safety deposit box at your hotel - better to be safe than sorry.

Don't flash your money around. Keep just what you need in your pocket and the rest out of sight!

Don't change money on the streets - only change at the hotel or exchange houses. Ask your guide what your best option is.
