ABOUT CENTRO BEAGLE - in their own words:
Since December 2003, Ushuaia, the world’s southern most city, displays a brand new “magical theme attraction”. Only five minutes from downtown, visitors enter the Patagonian Story that changed the World. The trip of Charles Darwin to Tierra del Fuego , on board the HMS “Beagle”. During this voyage, after two years in the Patagonia and based on his findings, young Darwin started to develop his Theory.

Centro Beagle” is a state of the art Theme Theater that holds a full-size replica of this famous vessel, where the Show “La Aventura del Beagle” is presented daily, both in English and in Spanish, October through March.

Entering Centro Beagle, visitors find themselves back in December 27, 1831, at a replica of the English Port of Plymouth, with HMS “Beagle” —moored to the pier and surrounded by real water— ready to sail out!

Only after signing their personalized “Boarding Agreement” with Cap. Robert Fitz Roy, visitors get aboard and take their place on the ship itself, as crewmates of Charles Darwin. The setting is awesome. Under a star-filled night sky, the vessel is surrounded by the sea, mountains and glaciers of the Beagle Channel. This Musical Show combines almost all artistic resources to tell this fascinating story in a dynamic and sensitive way. A large group of young performers (fluent in English), huge Muppets, Black Theater, Special Effects, and a Movie projected at the main sail —where “old Darwin” tells the story of the voyage.

After the Show, visitors may enjoy the Patagonian Nature Interpretation Hall, where the Evolution Theory is explained using local nature examples. The best way to complete this adventure is by sharing with the actors a World Class Theme Buffet at Centro Beagle. A perfect ending for this magical trip. Visiting Centro Beagle is already becoming a Must at The End of The World.

THE HISTORY OF THE BEAGLE JOURNEY:
On December 27, 1831 , HMS "Beagle" sailed out from England . under the command of Robert Fitz Roy, a young captain only 27 years old. The official mission was to survey the coasts of Tierra del Fuego , known at the time as ''Terra Incognita". But the Captain had two bther personal purposes for this voyage: One of them was to return native Yamana aborigins to their homeland, after having been separated from their kind two years earlier, and spending an "educational" season in England .

One of them, 16 year old Jemmy Button, was the one that had best adapted to the English ways, having turned into a real dandy who never, showed up on deck without his white gloves on.

The Captain trusted Jemmy would become the ambassador of the word of God and civilization at the End of the World. A second personal goal of the Captain was to scientifically verify the literal truth of Genesis. To accomplish this mission he hired a 23 year old naturalist. His name was Charles Darwin.

At "La Aventura del Beagle" we jump on aboard as crew mates of these three young men who were brought together by destiny, changing their lives forever.
