ABOUT COLCA LODGE - in their own words:

We invite you to feel the energy of one of the most spectacular regions in the south of Peru: the Colca Valley. This is where the river meets the sky, the sun joins the moon and the mind and body are connected; there is history, and the friendly people retain their traditions, their legends and their spirit.

 

At an altitude of 3250 meters above sea level and two-and-a-half hours travel from the city of Arequipa, our hotel nestles on the banks of the River Colca. It is surrounded by hundreds of pre-Inca agricultural terraces, which have been declared a Peruvian cultural heritage, and is blessed with relaxing hot spring waters rich in lithium. 

 

This is a place with ancient energy, synchronized with nature and the starting point for exploring the valley and visiting the Colca Canyon, one of the world`s deepest ravines.

 

At Colca Lodge you will feel another dimension to relaxation at our hot springs Eco-spa where we offer you a steam room, Jacuzzis, and massage sessions with local therapists. The spa was conceived as eco-friendly, and makes use of geothermal energy without interfering with or polluting the natural environment.

 

You will also feel the healing power of our open-air hot pools, each one with a different temperature. Taking a bath in the light from the stars is simply a magical experience. In addition to the sense of tranquility and harmony provided by the relaxing effect of the lithium, the landscape and the never-ending murmuring of the river complete an experience not to be forgotten.

SERVICES

Among the services offered by Colca Lodge, there is no doubt that the hot baths occupy a high place. Built in natural surroundings down by the river, the three baths are fed from a main source whose temperature is 80 degrees Celsius.

 

Close to the baths there are separate changing rooms for men and women as well as lavatories. There is bar service and a country-style restaurant where we serve barbecued meats and trout.

 

The hotel also has a complete hot-spring Eco-spa where we offer a variety of massages, facial treatments, applications, Jacuzzi and steam room.

 

Colca Lodge has safe boxes in each room and at the reception desk. Medical nursing services, telephone and internet (in the reception area) and room service are also provided.

 

The hotel has three restaurants and two bars with a wide choice of meals and drinks.

 

THERMAL BATHS

The hot baths at Colca Lodge are located down by the river among natural surroundings with very little evidence of human intervention. The three pools are built of stone, exploiting the rock formations of the riverbed, and are fed by a spring which surfaces at a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius. Each pool has a different temperature, between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius. A fourth pool containing cold water is a bracing alternative for more daring individuals.

This is also the location of our barbecue bar Las Pocitas, a charming rustic-style venue able to accommodate 45 people, where delicious meats, poultry and trout sizzle while they are cooked over burning charcoal. Enjoying these privileged surroundings amid bucolic Andean scenery, in the company of friends or family, is an unforgettable experience which most certainly one will wish to repeat.  At night, under an immense starry southern sky and with the occasional incandescence of meteors, the hot baths take on a magical dimension.

 

The hot-spring water in these pools is also relaxing, as it has a high lithium content.

 

For security reasons, the thermal pools might be closed some days during the month of February, when the river swells due to the rains. In that case, please contact the front desk in order to schedule the use of the thermal pool at the SPA.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS

Colca Lodge is privileged to enjoy a very special location amid pre-Inca agricultural terraces beside the River Colca.  The 45 rooms we offer our guests have a wonderful view towards the valley and are built around the gardens and courtyards which make up the hotel.  The style is rustic, with thatched roofs and some of them have adobe walls; these help maintain inside temperatures, thus collaborating with the natural environment.  We are currently implementing an ecological heating system which uses the geothermal energy available on the site of the hotel.  The bathrooms are supplied with hot water from solar heaters.  Bathrooms are small but complete, with a special touch just for you. All our standard rooms, which number 27, have small terraces where one can sit in the sunshine and admire the unique local Andean landscape.  We also have 15 quadruple rooms fitted with two beds up in rustic mezzanines built out of eucalyptus logs.  There are two suites suitable for families of four members, and one bridal suite, ideal for honeymooners, with the hotel's best view and its own Jacuzzi fed by a hot spring.

July 2014 COLCA LODGE presents their new "Adobe Jr Suites" - six magnificent rooms totally renovated and expanded to meet the growing demand for this type of product aimed at the high end market. With a total of 50.41 m2, including a spacious welcoming entrance and private terrace with excellent view of the Colca Valley, the new suites actually built with adobe and thatched roofs have particular thermal properties that help maintain a pleasant sensation of freshness for sunny days and a comfortable temperature on cold winter nights. These rooms feature a unique ecological system of under floor heating that uses geo-thermal energy from the property´s own sources. Additionally, the water heating system is based primarily on the efficient use of solar energy. The "ADOBE SUITES" have been soberly decorated in a unique style that combines the authentic taste of our countryside spirit with new trends of simplicity and elegance. A setting made with premium finishes and properly equipped to meet the needs of the modern traveler. These new rooms compement the "Panorama Suite", Suite" and "Family Suite" to altogether become an innovative and exclusive range of superior, unique rooms in the Colca Valley.

 

GASTRONOMY

Motivated by the vigour of the apogee which Peruvian gastronomy is experiencing, Colca Lodge offers a tasty combination of possibilities to turn your meals during your stay with us into experiences full of pleasant surprises, flavours and textures.

At our evening buffet, served in the hotel`s main restaurant, we offer you a special fusion known as Alpandina cuisine.  The concept is to achieve once and again a perfect harmony between the flavours and food values of Andean products and certain alpine techniques, particularly from Switzerland.  The result is an original and delicious style of cooking, both flavourful and well balanced. 

In more intimate surroundings, at our restaurant called Puye, we also offer the best of Alpandina cuisine served delicately a la carte.  Star features include quinoa, the traditional and very nutritious cereal of the Incas, fresh Andean trout, and delicious alpaca meat, low in fat and cholesterol.

For those who appreciate natural surroundings with meals cooked on a charcoal grill, Colca Lodge invites you to enjoy an irresistible alternative: our barbecue bar just below the hot springs on the banks of the River Colca.  There you will have the chance not only to taste a delicious variety of meats, poultry and fresh trout flavoured with unusual Andean herbs, but also some of the most representative Peruvian sauces, with all their exuberant flavour and piquancy - for more adventurous palates.  This is indeed an outstanding place to enjoy a sunny day in the country together with the family, friends or partner.

When it comes to drinks, there is none better than our flagship drink: pisco, the most Peruvian of spirits, and irreplaceable foundation for original cocktails and long drinks.  You can also enjoy a wide range of international spirits at any of the three bars at Colca Lodge.

SPA ECO THERMAL

The Eco-spa at Colca Lodge is blessed with hot springs whose water is rich in lithium, an element that promotes relaxation. It has been carefully designed to offer a unique sensation of wellbeing, comfort and relaxation in natural surroundings on the banks of the River Colca.

In accordance with the origins of the word spa - derived, according to some, from the name of a Belgian village where there are several hot springs or, as others would have it, from the Latin expression sanitas per aquam - the Eco-spa at Colca Lodge exploits geothermal energy not only for use in the various rituals and services offered to visitors, but also as a way of avoiding environmental pollution.
