|Hotel Explora en Patagonia|
In the explora's own words:
explora: A unique concept
Our characteristic is that we are connoisseurs of our own land and its nature: the southern tip of South America. An unexplored territory, a place to find the secrets of the remote. We like freedom; we appreciate the traveler who can make his choices and discern, who tours the world with sensitivity and enthusiasm, open to observation and new experiences.
We have selected a privileged natural setting; we have the precise experience to organize fascinating and safe explorations. Our Hotel has the necessary sophistication to allow our guests to enjoy all of life's pleasures. To us the world is still an enjoyable placed filled with the secrets and marvels of nature.
There are multiple sitting areas, generally in front of a fireplace or wide windows with scenic views, and always with over-stuffed couches and chairs. There is a lower level with small library, game tables and a large-screen TV with videos and satellite hook-up, and computer with internet access. The hotel has a small gift shop, telephone and fax service and radio communication with all exploration vehicles.
Our lodge has 50 comfortable rooms, all with captivating views, silence and
privacy. Click here for more details.
The dining room overlooks the Salto Chico falls but the windows offer sweeping vistas of the"Cuernos" of the massif.
Breakfast is buffet with a selection of fresh squeezed fruit juices, cereals, fruit and breads. Traditional eggs and meat can be ordered, cooked to your preference.
Lunch and dinner are culinary surprises with a choice of appetizers, a choice of main course and a choice from four or five desserts. Menus include some of the best local dishes, such as Magellanic lamb, southern king crab and delicious fish and vegetables
To accompany your meal, you may choose from a wide variety of wines from the Gracia, Porta, Agustinos and Veranda wineries.
|The Boat House "Casa de Banos
del Ona" is just a short walk from the main hotel building and is complete with all
the facilities for your favorite work-out. It features:
Quincho (barbecue area)
Located at the entrance to the 2 de Enero estancia, the quincho is the start point for some of our horseback rides. Here you can also enjoy some typical Patagonian cuisine: the preparation of barbecued lamb. Whilst the meat slowly cooks, you can share mate tea with the gauchos and listen to interesting stories about the area. It's worth the wait and a great Patagonia travel package.
Estancia 2 de Enero (January 2 Ranch)
Patagonia is more than just pristine landscapes; it is home to the unique and legendary gaucho culture. You can drink mate tea with gauchos and watch them shear sheep, drive livestock, break in horses and carry out other typical ranching tasks on this 6,000-hectare (14,826-acre) estancia, which belongs to explora and is located 53 kilometers (33 miles) from the lodge.
