BR-Manary-area-beach'.bmp (432694 bytes) WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA: There are excursions to archeological and paleontological sites, national parks, colonial architecture, deserted beaches and Brazilian culture of the northeast.

Pipa: This trip takes you to the most beautiful beaches of Rio Grande do Norte. The Ecological Sanctuary in Pipa, located overlooking Ponta do Madeiro Beach, is an area of preserved vegetation that has grown over ancient coastal sand dunes. On a walking tour of the area, you can learn more about the native fauna and flora and observe dolphins and sea turtles. Pipa's village is full of exciting nightlife options and offers a variety of restaurants with delicious cuisine.

Serra Branca: Located in the middle of a natural quarry are extremely beautiful natural pools, up to 3 meters deep and filled with pre-historic fossils of the Ice Age. The great monoliths of the region are a showcase of paintings and cave drawings. The desert-like vegetation, with its variety of flora and fauna, is a huge attraction.

Lajedo de Soledade: Exposed limestone deposits with rounded stones, containing innumerable caves and shelters under rocks with paintings and cave drawings made by pre-historic man between 3,000 and 5,000 years ago. Giant fossils of animals who lived during the Ice Age are on display at the local musuem.
