Be very careful with your purse or bags that hang from your shoulder and the same goes for your camera. Also be sure to leave all valuables in a safety deposit box at your hotel - it's better to be on the safe side.

Don=t flash around money! Keep a minimum of cash in your pocket and the rest out of sight!

Never change money on the streets; change at the hotel or in exchange houses. Verify your best option with your guide.

Stay on active streets (particularly at night), avoiding any dimly lit side streets. Never walk any of the links that connect the old and new city - take a taxi. Avoid standing at bus stops as they are unsafe at night.

Don=t drink the water! Although the water is treated it is different from what we are used to in the United States. Drink bottled water instead.
