ABOUT  POUSADA TRIJUNCAO
The  word  trijucao  literally means  tri-junction in  Portuguese, and  the  lodge  has  this  name  as it  is located  on the  border  of 3 different states  of Brazil;  Goias, Minas Gerais and  Bahia. This is an area of  the  Cerrado,  the  Brazilian  savanna,  which  is the  second  largest   biome  in  Brazil.  The  semi-arid landscape  features  high  plains  and valleys,  with  bush, low trees  and veredas; oases which  serves as the  only  source  of  water  for  plants  and  animals   for  kilometers. The  property is  a collection of  7 farms  that  have  been turned  into 330,000  acre  private reserve.  There  is one small  part  that  has continued farming using  sustainable techniques. The  reserve  is right  next  to  the  2,300,000  acre Grande Sertao  Veredas National  Park. This conservation area  is surrounded by  corn  and  soy  crops and so animals  tend  to concentrate here as their  natural habitat has been preserved.

The  hotel  offers  7 suites:  3  Standard, 3 Premium and 1 Master.  They are all  very  comfortable  and range  between 30 and  90m2  (322  and 968ft2 ), with rustic chic  decor featuring  local  wood  and  earthy tones.  All the rooms  have   king   sized beds and sizeable bathrooms with large showers.   Premium and Master suites also benefit from having a separate living room and a small  porch, and the Master boasts  a beautiful hot tub.

The hotel  has preserved the structure of the original farmhouse which has maintained the ambiance  of a Brazilian ranch. The communal area  is  really  cozy and  has  large   sofas and armchairs spread around the space, so if a guest  wants  to find a quiet spot  to read one of the many nature  or art  books, this is the perfect place. Brazilian art and handicrafts complement the homey  feel. The pousada  also  has an observation tower which is great for bird watching and star  gazing.

Surprise yourself with the Brazilian Cerrado and discover what makes Brazil more Brazil!
We believe that sustainability projects should receive guests as a way to inspire them.

Following this mission, we created Pousada Trijunção at the grounds of the Farm that shares the same name – located in an area of 33,000 hectares of Cerrado. We want our guests to live inspiring moments in the Brazilian savannah, returning from their trip impacted with the beauty, diversity and conservation challenges that Cerrado presents.

By sharing this experience with the guests of Pousada Trijunção, we are supporting the rediscovery of the Cerrado and stimulating its conservation.

One Pousada: 3 States, 3 Regions
Where Brazil is more Brazil
Brazil is so large that you do not always have the opportunity to visit three States on a trip. Pousada Trijunção has a privileged and unique location: the border between the States of Goiás, Bahia and Minas Gerais is located inside our property.

This uniqueness is reflected in everything we offer – from our gastronomy with elements typical of the 3 regions, to the decoration totally made by local artists – Pousada Trijunção is also a reflection of Brazil.

GASTRONOMY
Our gastronomy is inspired by Brazilian literary works about Cerrado. Brazilian literature is replete with references to the Cerrado – most notably works of Guimarães Rosa, which described “outside cooking” – with meals in the balconies and outdoor settings – and the “inside cooking”, when travelers were invited to sit at table.

Inside Cooking
Our restaurant has a menu that varies with what the Cerrado, and our own agro-ecological production allows and provides. It also reflects elements of the 3 States that share us – a unique combination of culinary traditions from Minas Gerais, Goiás and Bahia.

Outside Cooking
Barbecue, picnic and breakfast in the veredas, eventually with guitar playing
the musical heritage of the local culture.

Breakfast at any time
With items from the typical gastronomy of the Cerrado, our breakfast covers a diversity of typical fruits of the region, juices, cakes with seeds and typical nuts. It can be served at any time of the day in Pousada Trijunção, eliminating the concern with schedules and ensuring comfort and convenience.

SUSTAINABILITY

As part of the AlmaA Group, we share the belief that Sustainability projects should host people in order to inspire them.
Currently with less than 50% of the original Cerrado area in Brazil and it is estimated that 150 species of animals are at risk of extinction due to destruction or damage to their habitat. The jaguar, the ocelot, the anteater, the maned wolf and the gray eagle are among these species, but they live here on Fazenda Trijunção free, protected and reproducing.

Fazenda Trijunção believes in the responsibility of each of us to preserve nature and has on its property a breeding ground for wild animals for conservation purposes.

Carefully and respectfully, our team assists in their survival under suitable conditions of captivity and develops studies on their biology and reproduction, leaving them apt and ready for future reintroduction into nature. In our conservationist breeding ground we have tapirs, caterpillar deer, emus, peccary, and jabutis.

Pousada Trijunção has solar panels for water heating and low energy lighting through the use of LEDs.
In addition, the flooring of all the balconies and suites is of demolition wood, and the decoration is largely done by artisans from the region, using materials collected in a sustainable way in the Cerrado, such as bark and branches, dead trees and fallen leaves and fruits.

Decoration also considered plants from Cerrado, or species that adapt well to the region, contributing, along with the created water mirror, to naturally reduce the ambient temperature as a whole, limiting the need for air conditioning and attracting wild birds to the surroundings of the Pousada.

Most of our staff is made up of residents of the region and, by promoting it as an ecotourism destination, Pousada Trijunção helps the Cerrado to face one of the greatest challenges and opportunities in conservation today – giving economic value to the preserved nature.
