ABOUT BELMOND LAS CASITAS DEL COLCA -

The Casitas de Colca are located 160 km north of the city of Arequipa,
close to the Colonial village of Yanque and just 8 km from the town of
Chivay. This luxurious hotel is in the heart of the Colca Canyon, one of
the world’s deepest and most beautiful.
The canyon is 100 km (62
miles) long and is 3270 meters deep.
The hotel is on an area
of 24 hectares nestled in the Peruvian Andes at an elevation of 3260
meters. The property is on the left bank of the Colca River, in one of
the most splendid settings the world over, possessing spectacular views
of the canyon and Mount Mismi, Andean birthplace of the Amazon River.
Since the canyon is found
within the Volcanic Cordillera of the Andes, it boasts incredible vistas
of mountains and volcanoes, some of the latter still active, like Hualca
Hualca, Sabancaya, and Ampato (where the famous mummy Juanita was
discovered).
Using this overcharged
setting for inspiration, we designed and built a place that fits in
perfect harmony with the landscape, scattering about the complex
twenty private and spacious cottages (casitas).
We constructed the hotel
to be a refuge of peace and tranquility, providing the guest the chance
to forget about the worries of everyday life for awhile and to enjoy the
serenity and beauty that the Andes offer.

Curiņa Restaurant is in the main building of the hotel and is one of the
most special dining experiences in Peru. In addition to being located in
a unique natural setting in the Colca Canyon, it also offers one of the
most authentic local dining experiences imaginable: Peruvian classics
and tantalizing local specialties, prepared with ingredients from our
own organic garden.
Peruvian cuisine is among the most
diverse in the world. At Belmond Las Casita we like to celebrate this
rich variety with imaginative Andean dishes, created with herbs and
vegetables fresh from our farm and gardens.
Choose to dine in the warm and inviting
main building, or take a seat on the terrace. Stunning views across the
property to the Andean Terraces and surrounding mountains complement any

VEGETABLE GARDEN & FARM

greenhouses, a prickly pear orchard and numerous vegetable beds, it’s a
delight for gardeners and food lovers alike.
Our small farm is also
located on the property and is home to a number of animals, from horses,
cows and llamas to baby alpacas.
