Seu
Joćo fished for a living and when he wasn't on the water he enjoyed
sharing fishing stories with his friends at home. You see Seu Joćo loved
company, and his cozy casa was known as for native fishermen to gather
for gossip, drink, and music. Inspired by the spirit of Joćo's 'open
house', UXUA recreated his traditional home as an actual open house,
removing walls to open an entire side revealing a tropical oasis of
private gardens, while inviting inside Bahia's tropical breezes and
light.
DESIGN
What
at first looks like a traditional fishermen's bungalow transforms upon
entering into a gleaming, bright hideaway. An entire wall opens
revealing a lush private courtyard, with wooden decks around a swimming
pool with hydro-massage Jacuzzi, outdoor shower and rustic pergola.
Inside an open-air bathroom features sunken shower/bath and sinks carved
from tree trunks. Check all the boxes epitomizing the perfect Bahian
lifestyle: bringing what's outdoors to the indoors, and then back again. |
