ABOUT TARABUCO, BOLIVIA - From "Bolivia Handbook", Footprint Handbooks, Alan Murphy:
One of the most interesting trips from Sucre is to the village of Tarabuco (10,807 feet altitude), 39 miles southeast on a good road. It is famous for its very colourful market on Sunday. The local people still wear their traditional dress of conquistador-style helmets, multi-coloured ponchos, chupas (bags for carrying coca leaves) and the elaborate axsu, an overskirt worm by women.
NOTE: The market takes place on Sundays only, beginning around 9:30 AM.
